Bacopa monnieri: A traditional Ayurvedic (Indian) medicinal herb used to help support memory and learning.
A specific Bacopa monnieri extract (CDRI 08®) is being investigated in our KeenMind Inattention Trial.
Natural Medicine Clinical Trials
As part of our dedication to research, SFI Research undertakes a wide range of studies on natural medicines. Please see below for a list of our current studies, that you may have the opportunity to participate in.
What is a Clinical Trial?
A clinical trial is a research project or study undertaken to investigate the safety and/or efficacy of a new product, known safe compound, diagnostics, medical devices or care techniques . Clinical trials can also be undertaken to investigate products already available on the market for use in different indications or demographic; or to reinforce proven benefits for a new group of patients.
All clinical trials can only commence after being approved by university and/or hospital Human Research Ethics Committees (HREC); to ensure they are ethically acceptable and in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines.
Why participate in a natural medicine trial?
While clinical trials are a way to give back to the community; there are also a number of other reasons you may be interested in participating in one of our clinical trials:
You may have a personal interest in the trial or product being investigated
You may have a friend or family member with the condition being investigated – During each trial participants’ health is monitored at no cost.
You may be interested accessing new medications, which are provided at no cost
You may be interested in contributing to the improvement of healthcare or the advancement of medical research
As with any volunteer activity, all potential participants should think carefully about the demands on their time, as well as the risks and benefits involved before enrolling in any clinical trial.
About SFI Research’s clinical trials
In all our research and human clinical trials, the products we investigate must have first demonstrated safety through either a long history of traditional use or presence in the food supply; or extensive research.
All SFI Research clinical trials are approved by our university, research institute and/or hospital partner Human Research Ethics Committee; and we register all Australia-based clinical trials with ANZTCR.
Any personal information collected will be treated confidentially
Any information collected from you will be treated confidentially and only our research partners will have access to it – for research purposes only. Study results from our trials may be presented at conferences or in scientific publications, but individual participants will not be identified.
